Varun Bhalla, MD, FACR, more well-known to his patients as “Dr. V” is a board-certified rheumatologist specializing in the treatment of Rheumatoid Arthritis, Polymyalgia Rheumatica, Osteoarthritis, Osteoporosis, Psoriatic Arthritis/Spondyloarthropathy, Systemic Lupus Erythematosus, Dermatomyositis, Scleroderma, Vasculitis, , Gout, and Pseudogout.

An Arizona native, Dr. Bhalla graduated from the University of Arizona College of Medicine. He then completed his Internal Medicine Residency at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles, and his Rheumatology Fellowship at Mount Sinai Hospital in New York City. He then went on to serve as an Assistant Professor of Rheumatology at Loyola University Medical Center, a tertiary care center in the city of Chicago, where he managed complex patient cases and had the privilege of teaching trainees of all levels.

As a rheumatologist, his focus in patient care is to have shared decision-making. He informs patients on evidence-based medicine in a clear manner and takes the time to understand individual patient goals, all while maintaining a compassionate patient-provider relationship.

When he is not seeing patients, Dr. Bhalla enjoys spending time strength training, traveling, and cheering on his Phoenix Suns and Arizona Cardinals. He speaks conversational Hindi and Spanish and is continuing to improve his fluency.
